LESSology Challenge #48: Creative inspiration of Lizzy Hill

 photo Challenge-48-Lace-up-design-team-projects_zpst2uahfr5.jpg

It's almost the weekend! Perhaps you may find some time to play along with LESSology Challenge #48: Lace up! How about a little creative inspiration from design team member Lizzy Hill?

 photo Design-team-member-Lizzy_zps8033ad7b.jpg

Hi there! LESSology has an easy challenge this month. Use lace! And since it can be any sort of project [as long as you use at least one upcycled or recycled item], I reckon that makes it even easier!
I'm gradually altering my boxes and tins in my study & my craft room. So, today was this black box's turn:

My aim is blue, with a little green and pink as my craft room colours. Aim, I DID say!!! Probably never happen....but I'm trying;)

Anyways, here's the box now:

I've made lace butterflies! Started with food packaging. Punched the shapes. Gessoed and painted the butterflies.

Added some lace, then mica flakes.

Cut them up, then sealed, added a little gesso [pink] and some Inkagold [in gold!] as finishing touches.

The bodies & antennae are Liquid Pearls:
To create the box, I gessoed, then painted with Dusty Attic paints. Added some texture paste with a mask:
Then popped on some stamping, went over the whole box with a light champagne folk art paint....& smudged in a little Gelato in pink:
And then the final touch was some heat embossing with a stamp in gold:
And one final 'pretty' photo:
Hope I've motivated you to try and add a bit 'o' lace to summat or t'other!!!
Happy scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

LESSology Challenge #48: Creative inspiration of Mitra Pratt

 photo Challenge-48-Lace-up-design-team-projects_zpst2uahfr5.jpg

Hello friends! Hope you've been enjoying the design team's showcase of projects for LESSology Challenge #48: Lace up! Shall we see what design team member Mitra Pratt has been up to?

The other day I came across a lovely black single candle stick at the second hand store. It was really heavy, smooth and oh so lonely since there was only one. I thought it would make a fantastic perch for the wooden bird my Mom gave me at Mother's Day.

Check out what I started with for the bird. It was originally a little hanger and I couldn't settle on where to hang it.

Love the little circle in the middle! Makes a great place to stash a pretty little purple crystal that I've been hoarding.

My favorite part of this whole thing is the spray painted gold base with the alcohol inked peals. I only had cream colored ones and I wanted them to match, so I added alcohol ink!

Honestly the whole project came about because I wanted something to tie a nice chunk of lace on! I also wanted it to match a basket I made so I used similar flowers. I am really pleased at how it turned out!

If you get a chance, please play along with our Lace Challenge over here at LESSology!

Hi There!
It is Tone-Lill here, and today I want to show you a TAG inspired by our June challenge #48 LACE UP!
Here is the front side using papers  and chipboard from "Tilda" Panduro and lacing it up with different laces.

Our challenge criteria, as always, is to use at least one upcycled item on your project, here on this photo below are mine...
A ribbon from a box of (and yes you are right;) chocolate,
a fridge magnet and an envelope I received in the mail filled with
little goodies ;)

The ribbon is used with its reversed side, across the back of  the tag, the  envelope is the brown paper between the layers and the magnet is the eye-catching embellishment ;) and of course I musn't forget the laces.

here with a close up

and below with a small pull out TAG...
..... with room for a greeting
or sentiment on the reverse side.

....a few close up of the front side with  layers of laces

Over the next few days there are some more inspiration from our DT members, so please stay "tuned". We love to see how you can be creative with lacesand upcycled items...

cheers for now :)

LESSology Challenge #48: Creative inspiration of Yvonne Yam

 photo Challenge-48-Lace-up-design-team-projects_zpst2uahfr5.jpg

Lace is pretty and can be used in so many different ways to add beauty to your projects. Let's see what design team member Yvonne Yam came up with for LESSology Challenge #48: Lace up!

Yvonne Yam photo Design-team-member-Yvonne.gif

I created a mixed media tag using remnant lace and mesh tape on a piece of cardboard.:)

I started with some packaging cardboard. I peeled off the top layer to expose the corrugated cardboard texture underneath and then painted it with gesso to strengthen the cardboard base.

Then I added some mesh tape and remnant lace and went over with another coat of gesso before adding shimmering colours using Silks Acrylic Glazes.

Even the Maya Road resin bird was not spared a paint job...*winks*

I used The Crafter's Workshop stencil with Liquitex sand resin medium to create branches for the flowers and leaves to sit on.

It's amazing what you can create on a piece of cardboard eh?
